Our estate, “Ktima Kottis”, is located in Ano Kourtesi of Ilia, in the region of western Peloponnese, known for its excellent climate conditions and the rich in kaolinite clay soil, significantly contributing to the development and quality of grapes.
This is why we, “Kottis brothers”, decided to create our own family winery after many years of consistent cultivation of small vineyards.
Thus, in 2002 we planted a vineyard in an aggregate area of 12 hectares with indigenous Greek vine varieties, Mavrodafne – Roditis – Agiorgitiko and Moschofilero, applying the modern technique of linear cultivation.
After five years of appropriate maturing, allowing the vines to grow properly and ensuring top-quality grapes, we established our winery within the estate with the aim to commercially exploit the produced wine.
We are now fully equipped for:
- the production and fermentation of must, the maturation of red wines in oak barrels, and, when the wine is mature,
- the bottling inside our winery, where bottled red wines continue to age in wine cellars under normal temperature and humidity conditions, while white wines are shipped to the market for consumption.
The soul of our vineyard consists of the love, passion and thirty years of experience of SPYROS KOTTIS in viticulture and vinification, proven every day through:
- the constant attention paid to our grapes from ripening to vinification preventing diseases, and
- the bottling process, infusing each variety’s special aromas.
