We are located in Messinia, in south – west Peloponnesus, which has been a traditional wine region with a long history in Greece. It is a region with breath – taking natural beauties and monuments dating since the antiquity. At an altitude of 400 meters, we farm organically indigenous and international varieties to ensure, each year, grapes of the highest quality. In fact, it is in our philosophy that the quality and the attributes of a wine are “decided” in the vineyard. We believe that winemaking starts in the vineyard!
In the winery, traditional techniques and modern technology and quality assurance systems are harmoniously combined. This results in a winemaking process that respects the unique character of each variety and vineyard block and highlights the best elements of each wine. Concurrently, our premium and ultra – premium wines, with several awards in international competitions, exhibit our philosophy, our efforts and also the “character” and “soul” of our region.
The vineyard is in place Pachymari Tower Triphylia at an altitude of 400 meters. The first vines were planted in 1982 and was one of the variety Cabernet Sauvignon. This variety show already very good adaptability to the region, but they believed Dimitri , and not all the virtues . Then , following a study of the potential of the property , followed by the addition of three other international varieties : Chardonnay, Merlot and Syrah, also known for the quality wines that can give .
Shortly thereafter , he began a second phase of planting , but where the weight was no longer charismatic Greek varieties. The elegant Malagouzia the untamed Assyrtiko and velvet Aghiorghitiko added these in the quiver of the wine . Today the vineyard occupies an area of 150 acres (15 hectares ) and grown solely organically .
In a prominent position in the vineyard, the winery is located . Are totally 1200 square meters and is divided into three levels. The bulk of the room occupied by the tanks . A plethora of tanks, different sizes , all chilled and some ancillary allow the wines to be always neat and controlled temperature and simultaneously, separately , depending on the variety and the vineyard .
In the center of the winery , both in terms of planning , and in terms of importance , is the bottling and packaging area . Naturally, in this area , like the rest of the winery , fully met the requirements of ISO and HACCP (ISO 22000), while the work is done in accordance with certified systems .
For varieties Malagouzia and Chardonnay, often preceded by a pre-fermentation stage extraction . In this case , the juice remains in contact with the broken nipples for about twelve hours at low temperature and in a carbon dioxide atmosphere , to certain substances extracted from the peel . Substances that will define later the aroma and taste of wines.
