Pavlidis Estate.
Pavlidis Estate is situated in the region of Drama, in northern Greece, in a narrow valley on the footslopes of Mount Falakro, in proximity to the winter sports resort of Falakro.it was founded by Christoforos Pavlidis in 1998 after a long search for suitable sites for quality grape growing.
The aim of Pavlidis Estate is the production of premium wines, with pleasing aroma and flavor characteristics but also with a distinct and recognizable character.
To fulfill this goal, the Estate has planted 60 hectares of privately-owned vineyards in order to achieve a complete control of the quality of its production. In these vineyards, native and international winegrape varieties are grown with the aim to reveal the unique characteristics of our region, a terroir used from ancient times until today for vine cultivation.
Pavlidis Estate vineyards are situated in two different sites, distinguished from ancient times for their unique terroir, Kokkinogia and Perichora. Grapes of these regions are vinified to produce wines bearing the geographical indication of Regional Wine of Drama.
The vineyard in Kokkinogia (meaning red earth) covers 20 hectares on red soils exposed north west, thus ensuring protection from heat and light extremes during the Greek summer. Low fertility and limited soil depth, together with high plantation density, ensure low vine vigor which contributes to complete fruit maturation.
The vineyard in Perichora is situated on the footslopes of Mount Menikio, covering 40 hectares on north exposed slopes, ranging from 280 to 450 meters in altitude.
Soils here present great diversity, covering a wide range between “terra rossa” red clays at the lowest points to limestone soils and marls at the highest altitude. Vine rows benefit from mountain airstreams during summer.
