Thiako grape

The Thiako red cultivar is as pale in color as it is hard to find. It participates in blends of the Ionian islands and mainland Greece.

aspro sti thiaki or thiako (with thick skin) used to produce Ithaca’s white wine which is a little sweet but tastes dry, strong and with a delicious bouquet. The mavrodafni variety is the most common, though the thiako variety is probably the most resistant to frost and peronospora [= Mildiu, fungus].
