Vilana is a white wine variety grown primarily on the island of Crete, Greece. Vilana grapes are pale yellow-green in color with medium-sized berries. The best expressions of the variety are grown on higher elevation vineyards, where Vilana’s tendency to overcrop can be mitigated. When harvested, Vilana is especially prone to oxidization and extra attention is required to retain its freshness.
